Carpinteria Beach Campground
Carpinteria State Beach's campground has more than 200 sites is divided into 4 loops - Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, and San Miguel. The maximum trailer length available is 40 feet. For RVs, 30 feet. Not all sites can accommodate all sizes.
Anacapa Loop is available for tents, RVs and trailers. The maximum length for RV or trailers is shown on the reservation map and is strictly enforced. These sites are separated from the beach by the main day-use parking and picnic area. There are no hook-up sites.
Group Sites
- Bobcat - up to 25 people, 3 vehicles. RVs or trailers only, no tents
- Fox - up to 25 people, 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers, tents
- Raccoon - up to 40 people, 5 vehicles. RVs, trailers, tents
Santa Cruz Loop is available for tents, RVs, or trailers. 2 small, or 1 large tent, are allowed in most sites. Sites are long and narrow, often close together. No slide-outs or side tents are allowed. Premium beach front sites have higher fees.
Group Sites
- Plover, Gull, and Egret - up to 25 people, 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers, tents
Santa Rosa Loop is for RVs and trailers only. All sites have full hook-ups (water, sewer, and electric). Sites are arranged side-by-side in parking lot fashion. Maximum RV or trailer lengths range from 21 to 30 feet.
Most of San Miguel Loop is for RVs and trailers only, but some inland sites also allow tents. Sites are arranged side-by-side with diagonal parking.

Campsite fees range from $45 per night to $70 per night for hook-up sites and $80 for premium hook-up sites
Group sites range from $180 per night

Suggestions and Comments from Previous Campers at Carpinteria
- Bring quarters for the showers.
- Walk into town to Renaldo's Mexican Bakery (on Linden) for a huge breakfast burrito.
- Beach Front sites aren't that much better than other sites. All are close to the beach.
- Find good food in town at Rusty's Pizza.
- Trains don't pass too often at night.
- Reserve 6 months in advance because sites fill up quickly for the summer months.
- Put food away before nightfall to avoid raccoons.
Junior Rangers
Carpinteria State Beach offers a Junior Rangers program designed for children ages 7 to 12. Participants receive a logbook which is stamped every day they attend the program, learning about ocean safety, crafts, animals, and the environment. California Junior Rangers
